The key to being successful is being able to aim well. Headsots do more damage than hits to the rest of the body so you should always aim at the hostile's head. To become proficient with a weapon you will need to take recoil, muzzle climb, bullet drop, and travel time into consideration. Basically you need to master correct aim point placement in relation to target distance.

Avoid full frontal assualts against the enemy whenever possible as this is likely to get you injured or worse. The best tactic is to pinpoint where the hostile is and find a detour to them that enables you launch a surprise attack from the sides, or from behind.

Ideally you should reload as soon as you've killed a hostile as the last thing you want happening is to run out of bullets in the middle of a gun fight. Before you do so though make sure you get yourself to safety so you are not exposed and more importantly make sure there are no more enemies lurking about.

Try to avoid the temptation of running everywhere as this is the quickest way to get shot. It is safer to walk as it enables you to pick up on more of what is going on around you plus the time it takes for you to stop moving and fire your weapon is shorter when you are walking than it is when you are running.

Use the tactical vision during fights as it marks each one of the enemies on the battlefield making it easier to eliminate them.

Make sure you issue frequent instructions to your team as this will make killing the enemies easier and reward you with extra points.

Collecting the weapons dropped by your enemies when they die will add to your ammo box. There is no need to keep the weapon, you will get the ammo from it just by picking it up and disposing it.

Consider using grenades, C4 or the M320 grenade launcher when your enemies are safely entrenched behind cover and you cannot use the rifle to get them.

Aim for the head whenever possible as this ensures that you kill the enemy with one shot and it also provides you with extra points.
