Hay this is probably going to sound really moronic but how do you soul trap?

Ive got a spirt (rufio) and a soul gem(empty) I hit it with soul traping magic(a scroll or umbras sword) and then what do I do, select the gem or what i cant figure it out and can anyone tell me how to raise my mysticim because I havent got a spell that is low enough or tell me where to buy a spell that will work for lvl 5 thanks a lot.

Hit it with the magic then kill it.You need to have a big enough soul gem in your inventory for it to work though.

Yea what he said, and just get a mysticism spell that affects you and only you,and keep casting it on you and itll be master lvl in no time

Leprekorn answered:

First of all, all creatures have different soul levels:

Petty - 150
Lesser - 300
Common - 800
Greater - 1200
Grand - 1600
Black(NPC) - 1600

Go to http://www.uesp.net/wiki for a list of all creatures levels, I couldnt be bothered writing them all out

You have to kill the creature/person before the soul trap runs out
