There are many strong swords all throughout the game. The strongest non-enchanted sword is the deadric longsword, and the strongest non-enchanted claymore is the deadric claymore. To make these stronger, you can enchant them in the mages guild.
The strongest sword damage-wise is called Umbra. It also has a soul trap enchantment. You get it as a reward for completing the deadric shrine of Clavicus. Look at the deadric shrines walkthrough here on supercheats to figure out how to beat this shrine.
