Introduction

THQ continue their immense SmackDown! Vs RAW series into the 8th edition, after releasing the SmackDown! Game way back on the PS1.

This SvR game, takes a step up from previous games, by including the extreme ECW Brand.

Play as one of the many available superstars, or even as your Created Superstar (CAW) and battle it out, using your wit, and stragedy, with your skill, and reactions to defeat your opponents, in various exciting match types, with multiple difficulty settings for your ability.

Graphics

The graphics for this game are immense. Almost impossible to fault, as the arena, superstars and even the crowd look fantastic, this year. A huge range of different fans, cheering, or booing the superstars, wielding signs, and various weapons, and sporting different apperel, to add more realism.

The CAWs this year, look more like the Starting Roster, obviously not quite perfect, but there is some definate improvement, on previouis version.

When entering the ring, creating your entrance, fireworks, lighting effects, etc look fantastic, and even when competing in the ring, the moves, travelling around the ring, and normal movement look much more realistic, a real positive for the game.

Sound

There are a few flaws with this years installment's Sound effects, mainly in-game.

When performing finisher moves, and big hitting moves, the crowd do not seem so sound at all amazed, shocked, happy,...in fact, they don't seem to have registered that anything has happened at all, as the silence or chants carry on as they were before. This is really disappointing, as it takes away the feel of realism.

Chair shots, and other weapon hits can sometimes go unheard, literally, as you can hear no sound.

They have done well though, with the commentators. Last year there were many, many glitches and cock ups with the announce team, but that seems to have been improved.

Gameplay

In-match gameplay has improved, with new features, such as the new submission struggle system, and the 8 different fighting styles, which were, at first very new and unique.

But as you play on, these new features offer a lot of glitches to be used by online players, and can really ruin the game experience for other users. Especially the struggle system.

24/7 mode had huge hype, before the game was released, but again, was also a huge disapointment. It becomes far too repeatative, and after a couple of hours play, becomes incredibly tedius.

Once again, WWE SvR offers great online play, when you get to find others, who like to play for fun, and leave the glitching faggotry aside, you will find it to be an immense play.

Lastability

This version doesn't have the same lastability as the others offered.

It gets rather tedius after a lot of playtime, with 24/7 Mode being extremely repeatative, GM Mode the same as always, you set to lay back on the challenges, which can be completed in no time, and online playwhich can keep you going for a long while. So it gets an 8.

Overall

Overall, this version gets an 8/8.5 from me. The only thing that really stands out, is the outstanding graphics this version has to offer. The hype was also too much for this game, but in the end, couldn't live up to expectation.

Slight disapointment.
