Question for Skylanders Spyro's Adventure

How do you open the gate to the left of the big canon that shoots 4 lockers on a big door in chapter 2?

This is actually the back door to one of the "elemental" gates. When you complete the "elemental" gate challenge, you will exit through this gate back to the meadow containing the cannon. If memory serves, the gate to get here is an TECH gate. There are a couple of alternative routes inside this area. You may have to play it several times to find all of them and therefore find all the various treasure chests, soul gems, etc. Since this IS a back door. You will find that you have skipped some area of the level. SO, as a result you will have to play the level a second or third, or more time to cover the area you skipped. Get used to that. There are LOTS of levels in Skylanders, where if will find you can't go back. The only way to go to an area you "skipped" is to replay the level again. Not a big deal. Once you have gathered a soul gem, a treasure chest, a hat, a scroll. It is yours forever. Once you have gathered those, they will be GONE from that level forever more, unless you start a new game or reset your game and start over. Many people want to complete all the levels in a single pass. CAN'T BE DONE. This alternate route business prevents that.

SOME people want to get all the check marks in Objectives in a single pass. Again, CAN'T BE DONE. If you manage to get the ENEMY GOAL, then you have taken whatever amount of time was necessary to very carefully and thoroughtly explore every little nook and cranny looking for bad guys. Every time you clear an area, stop and search THOROUGHLY to make sure you did not overlook something. Back trace your steps often. The biggest hiding place used in may areas is RIGHT NEAR where you start the level. Do NOT simple forge ahead. Stop and take the time to do a thorough search all around where you start the level. Many times the hidden stuff is either behind you or beside you.

Which brings me back to the CHECK MARKS in Objectives. It is simply NOT POSSIBLE to clear the level in "UNDER XX TIME" AND collect all the stuff and kills all the bad guys. JUST NOT POSSIBLE. The Best solution? Make multiple passes. First time through gather as much stuff as you possible can, then replay the level again. This time get the stuff you missed. Replay the level as many times as necessary until you absolutely KNOW the route by heart and You KNOW where the bad guys are located and WHICH area you MUST kill ALL the bad guys to open a gate. Etc. Once you have this, then make your "speed run". Use your fastest skylander. Hopefully once that can FLY or has a burst of speed option. DON'T gather up anything, skip everything. DON'T do any of the elemental gates. They aren't needed to complete the "speed run". DON'T kill any bad guys that you can skip. Fighting takes time you don't have. If you MUST kill the bad guys to open a gate, use a skylander with MASSIVE fire power. The object of the speed run is to get from the start to the finish in the least amount of time. LEARN which areas you can completely skip. There are many areas that are there simply to confuse you and take extra time. They are great when trying to earn XP, or gather money, but are totally NOT needed to make your speed run. A speed run absolutely demands that you KNOW the area like the back of your hand and that you CAN make the run without making a mistake. Many times, even ONE LITTLE MISTAKE, where you must retrace your route will cost you more time than you can afford. Sometimes, missing a SINGLE jump will cost you the TIME goal. REMEMBER, no killing, no gathering, no gates, no areas that you do not HAVE To go thru. PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE. When you have run a level so many times that you are BORED TO TEARS, then you just MIGHT know it well enough to complete the SPEED RUN.
