Skyrim is the fifth game in the Elder Scrolls series. In this game, you play a Dragonborn prisoner, who is saved from execution and must fulfill his destiny to become Dovakhiin. Skyrim takes you from the top of the world, to the smallest cave in a swamp. Every quest, sidequest, and miscellaneous mission has a surprising turn at every corner.
The graphics are definitely worth a five star rating. Every detail, from the sun shining on the waves of water, to leaves falling off a tree is thought out. Unlike the other Elder Scrolls games, the graphics of Skyrim give it a realistic feeling. So when that dragon roars and you're close enough, you'll know right when to pull out your sword and get ready for a fight.
Sound was definitely a quality that played a huge role in the mood of the game. It changed drastically, and when it changed you knew exactly what was coming. Each creature, flying or landlocked, had it's own unique sound immensely different from the others. The only thing that could have been better were the walking and running sounds of the character.
The gameplay was a definite ten. The Heads Up Display (HUD) was extremely user friendly. Many aspects of the controls made it easy for users to select items with the implementing of the new Favorites feature. One of the best changes was the new layout of the menu screen, which served as the opening of the Journal in the fourth Elder Scrolls game Oblivion.
One thing is certain about Skyrim, you will never beat it. With over 200 dungeons, 20 NPC quests, and 100 hours of playtime to beat the main quest, you may be sleeping with the fish before you finish this game. So many precautions have been taken to make sure it holds a lifetime of at least your lifetime.
The overall game was extremely well thought out. Everything from the roaring of a dragon, to the chittering of a mudcrab was in mind when the developing team was making this fantastic game. Many people who play this game say it takes over 300 hours to complete, but little know it may actually take a lifetime to achieve halfway completed. If you're looking for a smooth, user-friendly RPG to play with little interruptions, then this is the game for you.
