Each of the Playable Characters in the game falls under one of six classes. Each of which has superiority and inferiority over other classes much like a RPS (rock, paper, scissors) mechanic. Refer to the image and list below to see how they stack up against each other.
1. Scout Bots quickly eliminate opponents with frequent Special Attacks and a high Critical Rate. Their rapid attacks give them an advantage over Tech bots.
2. Tech Bots generate shields, manipulate Power, and equip some of the most advanced custom weaponry. Their shielding abilities help them when facing Demolitions bots.
3. Demolitions Bots are burst damage experts that buff their Special Attacks for bigger, bolder, explosions. Their fewer attacks give them an advantage over Tactician bots.
4. Tactician Bots' strong synergies and master strategies help them adapt during a fight to turn their enemies' strength against them. Their anti-Armor abilities help them when facing Brawler bots.
5. Brawler Bots are armored allies and furious foes that value strength at any cost. They have low Critical Rate and high attack gives them an advantage over Warrior bots.
6. Warrior Bots have deadly accuracy and love bleeding Energon from their opponents. Their tracking systems give them an advantage over the evasive Scout bots.
When you are matched up against another fighter, a match-up table is presented to show how you'd perform in contrast with your opponent, and even grading your chances of winning as encircled in the image below. The table also shows information such as the class, battle rating, total HP, attack power, and applied mods on each fighter.
Later on in the game, figuring out the proper combinations of your fighters relating to their classes and advantages becomes all too important in order to successfully finish the mission. So familiarizing yourself with this simple icon (as shown on the images below) before playing each mission would greatly improve your chances to survive. Clicking this icon shows the pertaining chapter's enemy guide and their expected numbers. With this, you get to prepare the type of fighters you'd want to enlist in the upcoming mission.
Seeing that the chapter houses brawler and tech types of bots in the example above, it is relative that you'd want to enlist tactician and scout bots, like we did, to your advantage. Of course, this does not guarantee your success in every given situation. Knowing what to expect simply gives you the bit of advantage as it reduces quite a bit of your opponents attack power and at the same time giving a boost to yours. In the end, it still all boils down to how good you perform in the actual battle.
