Choosing a Character Class

Ghost Recon Breakpoint offers four different classes; Assault, Panther, Field Medic, or Sharpshooter. Each one of these classes has different abilities, perks, and strengths. They also have a final ultimate 'technique' which is charged differently. Ultimately the decision on what class you choose to play as will be determined by what playstyle best fits you as a player. Check out our Classes Guide to find out everyhthing you need to know about the four classes.

Experiment with your Character

Everything that you selected when you created your character at the start of Ghost Recon Breakpoint apart from your choice of gender and face can be changed or re-worked. If there is a particular aspect of the game you are not enjoying don't be afraid to experiment by trying something different.

Level Up your Character

Main Missions and Side Missions in Ghost Recon Breakpoint will reward you with experience points when you take down threats and enemies. Try to look for quests so you can earn the required experience points to level up your character.

Guided and Exploration Modes

Guided mode places a marker on your map leading directly to your objective, while Exploration mode tasks you with deciphering clues and using the map to find where to go next. If you are new to the game it is advised that you play Guided mode as Breakpoint’s map isn’t always easy to traverse and knowing exactly where to go speeds up an otherwise slow process.

Use your Drone

Drones can be used to scout the field and tag enemies before your assault You will find it particularly useful for spotting patrols, identifying enemy emplacements, or acting as a spotter if you have selected the Sharpshooter class.

Buying Weapons

Once you have unlocked the game's hub,'Erewhon', you will be able to buy weapons from Maria who constantly updates her stock after a specific amount of time, so make sure you regularly visit her.

Check your Mini-Map

Make sure you regularly check your mini-map to see if there are any red blurs in your vincinity as this indicates enemy patrols. Use your drone or scout from afar with scopes to get a visual of their position and then use the time you have before they are in range to reload and recover so you are prepared for combat.

Use Stealth Kills

Use trees, bushes and other other hiding spots your surroundings offer to sneak up to your target and execute a stealth kill. This method of eliminating the enemy will not consume ammo or alert them of your presence, providing you hide the corpse after the kill.

Rest, Eat and Drink

Your character will not become weaker if you skip meals, resting and water. Using them however is the main way to boost your combat effectiveness early in the game and they will give you powerful buffs. Resting at a Bivvy for example will give you a 60m boost to a stat of your choice.

Replenish Stamina

It is important that you keep an eye on your characters stamina as running and navigating through difficult terrain will consume it. Once your character's stamina has run out they will be 'Exhausted' and move slower. To replenish your stamina you need to either stay still, drink from your water canteen, or by going to Erewhon or Bivouacs. Remember to refill your water canteen whenever you are near rivers and streams.

Remove Injuries

It is inevitable that at some point during the game your character will take damage and become injured. Having injuries will slow them down and cause your aiming to become jittery and unstable. Make sure you patch up any injuries your character sustains as soon as possible.

Dying

If your die or fail your mission your character will restart at a checkpoint. They will retain the experince points and credits they earned before dying. Enemies will also respawn when they die.
