The House of the Dead: Remake - How to Unlock Weapons Guide

There are more weapons to fight the zombies in The House of the Dead: Remake than just your handgun. The game though doesn't tell you how you can obtain them. This How to Unlock Weapons Guide will tell you everything you need to know.

How to Unlock the Armory

The first thing you need to do is unlock the Armory, so you will be able to store all of your new weapons. The requirement to unlock the Armory in The House of the Dead: Remake is to save all the scientists in a single run. The route you choose does not matter, you just need to make sure none of the scientists are killed. A single run means that you start from Chapter 1 and work your way to Chapter 4, you cannot skip any chapters. This may take several attempts as you will need to know where all the scientists are located first in order to save them. Once you manage to successfully save them all a secret room after the second Hangedman boss battle will become unlocked. The 'Savior' and 'Secret Room' Achievements will also become unlocked. If you then go to the Gallery and press the L/R button until you are at the cabinet it will now reveal itself to be the Armory and you will be able to see the weapons you have unlocked there. To begin with only the Handgun will be in the Armory, but it will fill up as you find weapons.

How to Find Weapons

Once you have unlocked the armory you will be able to find a weapon hidden inside breakable objects in each chapter of the game. There is no need to keep scientists alive now, you focus has shifted to breaking objects in the hope of finding a weapon inside. Once you manage to find a weapon and shoot it you will be able to get immediate access to that weapon in your inventory. A blue notification will also appear indicating which weapon you have unlocked. You can switch the weapon you use according to your situation by using the Left/Right arrow buttons. Listed below is the weapons you can find in each chapter.

Chapter 1: Crossbow

The Crossbow has a slower fire rate than the Handgun but deals more damage. It is particularly effective against bosses, especially the Hangedman boss in Chapter 2.

Chapter 2: Pitter

The Pitter is basically a stronger version of the Crossbow, but instead shoots spears at the enemies. The downside of this weapon is that it has a slower fire rate than the Crossbow.

Chapter 3: Grenade Launcher

In terms of damage dealt the Grenade Launcher is by far the most powerful weapon in the game. It will clear enemies quickly and bypass any armor that enemies might have. The downside of the Grenade Launcher is that it has the slowest fire rate out of all the weapons.

Chapter 4: Assault Rifle

The Assault Rifle has the fastest fire rate and the most ammunition out of all the weapons. It makes up for its lack of damage per bullet with its fire rate. It is the best weapon for dealing with enemies on the walls or in the air.
