Drop the Difficulty

You will quickly learn that The Callisto Protocol is an unforgiving game, even on the default difficulty setting. Movement speed, enemy mobs and the balance of damage you can do against what you can receive means you will struggle to stay alive. Even the basic enemies are tough to deal with and once you find yourself up against multiple foes you will need to start relying on a combination of luck and making the correct choices to get through the fight.

It is therefore recommended that you consider playing the game on a lower difficulty setting. The game will still be challenging in places, and you will still have to think about the inventory and tactics, but the fights generally will be a lot easier which means you won't find yourself dying as much.

Keep Enemies at a Distance

The best way to stay alive in Callistro Protocol is to not let enemies get close. This means the best tactic providing you have the ammunition is to shoot out the enemies legs before they can get close to you. Doing this will reduce the enemy to a crawl which will enable you to easily finish them off.

Stamp on Dead Enemies

It is important that you get into the habit of stomping on the enemies that you kill as they will each drop something useful when you stamp on them. This will include ammunition and health which will help you to stay alive longer and the small amounts of cash you find will begin to add up over time.

Search Everywhere

Keep an eye out for alternate paths and make sure you explore them before you move on past a point where you can't go back. It is important that you do this as there will always be valuable resources that you can find there and these paths that branch off are often where you can find the optional Callisto Protocol weapons early.

Level Up your Gear

As you explore you will come across various techy items such as CPU printers and energy converters that you can sell for Calisto Credits, the currency of the game at the Reforge terminals which are scattered around the game and tend to appear after big fights.

In Callisto Protocol you have a limited inventory which means when you are in a safe place you will need to determine whether it's worth dropping some supplies to pick up the items so that you can level your gear up more when you get to a Reforge. Always Reload your Weapons

Make sure you take the time to reload your weapons every opportunity you get as it is difficult to do so during a fight. Keep in mind that the skill shots that reward melee combos with a critical hit can instantly end a fight, but only if you have a round chambered.
