Tactics Ogre: Reborn is set in the Valerian Islands following the death of Dorgalua Oberyth, the 'Dynasty King' who brought years of peace to the region. But when civil war breaks out in their absence, a bloody power struggle ensues between three warring factions. The game is available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Switch, and PC.

Below is a collection of hints and tips that will help you to progress in the game. These include why you should invest in archers and why you should use knights early in the game.

• Return to Levels

  It is inevitable that you will reach a level that seems too difficult, and you are unable to progress. When this happens you need to leave it and go back to a different type of level in order to increase the strength of your character by getting more EXP and better loot.

  Once you have done this return to the level you were having problems with, and you should find it easier. An example of this is the Quadriga Fortress battle in Chapter 1 which is a tough fight to begin with when you attempt it at level 5 because it's all level 6-7.

• Defeat the Enemy Leader

  In order to proceed through the levels it is not necessary to defeat all the enemies you encounter. All that is required is that you defeat the enemy party leader. If you make this your priority during every battle you engage in you will advance through the levels faster and much easier.

• Stack Up on Archers

  The best class of character in Tactics Ogre: Reborn are Archers, and it is recommended that you stack up on as many archers as possible. The reason they are so good is they are cheap and when positioned correctly they are capable of doing a lot of damage. Having plenty of archers at your command will also help you to progress through the game a lot easier.

• Use Knights Early

  Although Knights are quite slow in both movement and turn speed they are good to have early on in the game for a few reasons. These include them having Rampart Aura which blocks enemy movement, access to healing spells, and good durability.

  Knights are also effective when they are assigned to defend your back line. Avoid using the Phalanx skill as it makes the AI dismiss your knight in favor of attacking something else.

• Ranged Attacks Over Melee

  Invest in character classes like archers that can attack from far away whenever you can because ranged attacks are better than melee ones. Being able to deal damage from a distance can weaken enemy troops or eliminate them completely before they get a chance to fight back.
