Introduction

A paradise for Nintendo fans, plain and simple. Super Smash Brothers is a game that allows you to stage fights between classic nintendo characters, such as Mario (Super Mario Brothers series), Link (Legend of Zelda series), Donkey Kong (Donkey Kong Series), and Pikachu (Pokemon). It is a pure and classic fighting game featuring Nintendo's finest, in addition to a couple new surprises.

Graphics

It has good graphics in some ways, but unrealistic in many. Compared to more modern games or even more serious N64 games, it has sluggish graphics. But this has a lot to do with the fact that they are using such retro characters from classic Nintendo games. Very cartoon-like graphics in many ways. Although it is still easy to find the pixels if you look close enough, the graphics are very fitting for the style of gameplay.

Sound

The sounds of each level and character are stunningly similar to the songs and sound effects in the respective games for each character or stage. There is an added effect of realism when the characters make the same noises in Super Smash Brothers as they do in their respective games, and it allows the gamer to enjoy pitting their favorite characters against each other.

Gameplay

The fighting and combat system is classic. There is very little plot, very few cutscenes of any kind, and very few interruptions. It is a cartoon yet solid fighting game. Simply choose your character, choose your weapons, choose your stage, and brawl to find out who is best with their favorite character. Or test your skill in 1 player mode against, and go through the gauntlet of enemies over and over again.

Lastability

True Nintendo fans can never get tired of playing Super smash Brothers. There is always room for imporvement no matter how many times you beat it, be it one or one million. 8 standard characters and four unlockable ones in a solid game with up to four players leaves for nearly limitless possibilities.

Overall

The first game of it's kind, and a classic. Whether you're a fan of beat 'em up games or just a die hard Nintendo fan, this game is sure to never dissappoint you. What the game lacks in graphics and sound, it easily makes up for in playability and lastability.

Final Score: 88%
