Can you change civilizations in the game?

Yes, you can switch at any time by tapping your profile icon and then the arrows near your civilization. Doing so though will cost you 10,000 Gems

How do you get more troops?

You recruit troops by continually upgrading your Archery Range, Stable, Barracks etc. These types of buildings are the ones you should focus on upgrading and training the most.

Talent Points are earned by leveling up Commanders and they are used to unlock various boosts/perks for them.

There are several ways you can do this and includes upgrading the storage facility, researching military technologies in the academy, upgrading the wall, and upgrading the city hall.

This can be accomplished by upgrading the buildings, training the troops, gathering resources, researching, and leveling up.

How do you activate buffs?

You must collect the corresponding runes on the map to activate the buff. Once gathered a rune icon will appear at the top-left corner of the screen which if you tap on will show you more details. Only one rune can be activated at a time and their effect is temporary.

How can you get free chests?

When you earn a certain number of Activity points you will be rewarded with a free chest. The milestones you get a free chest are 20, 40, 60, 80, and 100 Activity points.

What is VIP?

VIP provides your city with passive statistical advantages that increase with each VIP level. You can activate the VIP using Gems.
