This game remake had me hooked ever since I first started playing it. Gamefreak reintroduces the magical world of the Johto region, mixes fourth generation Pokemon 3D graphics, and totally makes it work. For those who haven't played Pokemon Gold and Silver version, this will be the only game you play for at least a few years. For those who have played Gold and Silver, prepare for an extreme case of nostalgia plus more.
This would be so much better if the game wasn't using Nintendo DS graphics. Even for that, a lot of important scenes are in 3D! Even the startup screen displays Lugia (SoulSilver) and Ho-oh (HeartGold) in 3D. And of course for Lugia, it is swimming deep under the ocean, and Ho-oh is fling through the sky.
Wow, this is amazing. The sound blends Kanto-Johto beat and mixed instruments to keep you from putting the game down. While there is a part where you can switch between DS and Gameboy background music, you will have your volume as high as possible from all of the catchy beats and tones.
This would have been rated higher, but the Pokemon encounter ratio is so high that you will be trying to avoid grass patches at all costs. Other than that, keeping the gameplay the same as it was all those years ago is excellent for the true Pokemon fan.
There is always something to do in this game, depending on what day of the week it is. The addition of Kanto after you beat the Pokemon league doubles the gameplay. Imagine how long it took you to play through the Johto portion of the game. Take that, and double it.
This is overall perfect, with minor annoyances and bugs. Only a hardcore player can notice the bugs and glitches, or will really care about them. This is so far the ultimate Pokemon experience, perfect for everybody who likes role playing games. I also think that Pokemon will have life blown back into itself after the average gamer gets a chance to play this game.
