Pokemon Platinum is the latest installment in the Pokemon series. It has many new features and is an outstanding game. It contains many of the same Pokemon as Diamond and Pearl, with the exception of Giratina as a legitimately obtainable legendary pokemon.
For a game on the DS, the graphics are amazing. In Platinum, the use of 3-D realism is astounding. In comparison to many other DS games, Pokemon Platinum is incredibly superior.
In cities you walk around and the building move to an angle that is dimensionally realistic, it's truly amazing how far these games have come in only 10 years.
The sound is wonderful. It is melodic and relaxing. Listening to the music is quite enjoyable although it is doesn't feel at all like a necessity. Often times you will be playing in public or with the television on and will want to turn the sound off, doing so does not make the game feel any less epic. As such, I feel the sound is not as remarkable as other aspects of the game.
The gameplay of Pokemon Platinum is astounding as there is simply so much to do. If you play without a guide book and without hints then you will enjoy simply walking from town to town talking to people, many people in towns will give you items. After you beat all the gym leaders, it would seem that the game would be over, or atleast almost over. It's not; after defeating the gym leaders there is the elite four, after the elite four there are still many more options, multiplayer online and the battle frontier to name just two. The gameplay is amazing, it is so much for such a small game pack.
This game has by far more lastibility than any game I have ever played on the DS. Once you spend 10 hours+ beating the gym leaders, you still have the Elite Four which takes another several hours, more if you need to train your pokemon. After you defeat the Elite Four, you then have many more options. You can obtain the National Dex, this means completing your pokedex, this takes a very long time. You can also do Battle Frontier which is very fun, and you can also do multiplayer. Multiplayer alone has an incredible amount of lastibility as it takes massive heaps of time to train your Pokemon perfectly and then you can defeat other trainers with your team online. This game lasts for hundreds of hours easily, easily deserving a 10.
I can't give Pokemon Platinum anything less than a 10; every aspect of this game is incredible. When you start out you have a remarkable, epic feeling when you are choosing your Pokemon, that feeling only grows as your Pokemon level and you complete more and more goals within the game. This is a remarkable game for people of all ages, whether you be 8 years old or 28 years old, this game has fun and playability for anyone who loves video games.
