Catching Pokemon Tips for Pokemon Legends: Arceus

This Catching Pokemon Tips guide lists the best methods in Pokemon Legends: Arceus to catch the Pokemon you encounter in your role as a Survey Corps member when you venture into the various locations of the Hisui Region. This guide also includes how to increase your catch success rate and strategies that will help you capture Pokemon.

Time of Day

It is important that you pay attention to the weather and time of day, as these factors affect the type of wild Pokemon that will appear at various areas of the Hisui Region. Make sure you remember to return to areas you have already visited during the day and night and under sunny, rainy, or snowy weather conditions in order to spot as many types of wild Pokemon as possible.

Sneak Up to Wild Pokemon

As with all Pokemon games the wild Pokemon you encounter in Pokemon Legends: Arceus will all act differently when you approach them. You wil find that some are aggressive and will attack you on site while others are timid creatures that are easily frightened and will immediately run away the instant they spot you. When tackling latter type of Pokemon the best strategy is to first see how far you can sneak up to them before they sense your presence. Doing this will enable you to get a feel for the distance you can reliably throw a Pokeball.

Know your Pokeballs

Pay attention to the Pokeballs you are using in Pokemon Legends: Arceus as they have different throwing ranges. Although the Heavy Ball has an increased rate of success when catching Pokemon it also has a significantly shorter throwing range. Make sure you practice throwing different types of Pokeballs so you get a feel for each of them.

Use Mounts

Once you have obtained possession of the Celestica Flute in Pokemon Legends: Arceus, you will be able to ride Wyrdeer, Hisuian Braviary, and Basculegion on land, in the air, and at sea respectively. It is essential that you get a feel for each of these mounts movements as doing so will enable you to aim Pokeballs more reliably at Wild Pokemon when you are trying to catch them while riding them.

Weaken Wild Pokemon First

You will be able to increase your catch success rate considerably once you have significantly worn out the Pokemon you are trying to catch. In order to do this send out your Pokemon to do battle with the wild Pokemon and use Pokeballs to catch it once it has sustained considerable damage. If you do this the wild Pokemon will be too weak to struggle inside the Pokeball and it will increase your chance of catching it.

Inflict Status Conditions

You can prevent the wild Pokemon from moving making them easier to catch by inflicting them with status ailments such as sleep and paralysis. When exploring new areas in the Hisui Region be sure to have Pokemon in your team that can inflict status conditions.
