Keep an eye out for the 'Mysterious Stranger', a character who will occassionally appear around your vault. If you do see him be sure to tap on him as doing so will give you a decent amount of bottle caps. The strangers arrival will be signified by a three-note tune.

Make sure you arm each of your citizens with the weapons you find in the Wastleands. If you have weapons in each of your rooms you will ensure that they will remain safe in case of a radroach infestation or if raiders break through your defenses. Save your most powerful weapons for your wanderers to stay safe out in the wasteland and sell those that you don't want for bottle caps.

Build power generating rooms whenever possible because if you are producing a surplus of electricity you will safely be able to build more facilities to increase your storage capacity without putting a strain on your resources.

It is important to remember that rooms require more power to operate the further they are from the power plant so you need to make sure you space your reactors out evenly to maximise their effeciency. Facilities use power regardless if you use them or not so don't waste power by building any you can't utilise.

Remember that larger, connected rooms are more efficient than an equal total of smaller rooms of the same type. Also, extending the initial elevator directly down instead of extending the horizontal space leaves you room for three-wide rooms on either side which although more expensive is more beneficial in the long term.
