How to Activate/ Deactivate a PS3

Overview

Your console needs to be activated with your Sony Entertainment Network Account when downloading games, movies, add-ons, etc from the Playstation Store. You can download the same content on other PS3 systems with a limited number of times, depending on the content.

For purchased/downloaded content before November 17, 2011

• Game Content: Up to 5 PS3 and/or PSP systems


• Video Content: 1 PS3 and up to 3 PSP Systems

For purchased/downloaded content on November 18, 2011 onwards

• Game Content: 2 PS3 and / or PSP systems


• Video Content 1 PS3 and up to 3 PSP Systems

If you exceed the number of activated systems, you need to deactivate a system before you can download content on a new system. You need to have the system with you in order to activate or deactivate it.

If you encounter problems deactivating your system, you may contact Sony's Consumer Service Department.

1. In your XMB, go to Playstation Network icon then Sign In to your account.
   
   


2. Select Account Management then System Activation.
   
   


3. Choose PS3 System and select whether you want to download Game or Video to your system.
   
   


4. Select Activate or Deactivate
