Finding your Backpack After Death in Outward

In Outward several things can happen when your character is killed and each is based on how and where you died and random chance. For instance dying to the same enemy can give you different results, you may end up at the entrance of the dungeon you died or taken away from it completely. The factors that determine where you end up is a mystery nobody is sure about. Regardless of where your character ends up finding your backpack after death will be your first priority.

There are two death load screens when your character dies, one before the scenario text and one after. Don't skip these texts as they tell you what happened after you died and sometimes give hints about where you are or what you are going to have to do once you wake up. Although nobody knows exactly what happens when your character dies there appears to be some constants you can use to solace yourself during the death load screens.

• If you put your backpack down before you died, there is a good chance it will be where you left it. Sometimes it will even come with you.

• If you had your backpack equipped when you died, you are going to wake up with it either on your back or nearby in the same area you are.

If you wake up and you cannot see your backpack the first thing you need to do is look for the backpack symbol on your compass as this will point you in the direction of the last backpack you wore. During this time you need to make sure you do not wear another packpack until you have found the one you were wearing when you died.

Keep walking towards the backpack symbol on your compass, if however your backpack is in another dungeon, town, or zone you will be blind to its location which is why it is imperative that you know where you are on the map before entering a dungeon otherwise your chances of recovering your backpack are drastically reduced as you need to know where to return to. Just remember that if you are always aware of your location on the map finding your backback after death need not be too much of a problem.
