Shoot into the wild blue easy

In whomp's fortress, go to the cannon and face the star. Run down the ramp about a half of the way to the bottom (just before you get to the yellow arrow), and do a triple jump. Your character should start dangling off the platform. Pull yourself up and get the star. You may not get it on the first try. And you should kill all the goombas under the platform in case you don't get it.
