To get a good approval rating you have to do these simple steps:

Use the MONEYBAGS cheat.
Use the cheats for the perfect cities in freeplay.
Make your challenge mode cities exactly like the freeplay ones. Then, you only need to get 6% or less to win. ITS THAT EASY!

How do you get past Asia development age? I'm at about 50% approval and I'm trying to raise land values.

Have you taken the three approval ratings tests? That's a great easy way to get thirty extra percent.
If you don't mind going back and starting over, before you leave open Asia or the renaissance delete all houses before leveling up.

On Dawn of Civilization Age, why do the houses (residences) keep flashing dark and turning back to yellow squares? Any..

The residences do that because they need farms. Add farms and the houses will come back.

How do you unlock the opera house?

You need to build 3 art museums which you can get by increasing your education level to 90 and you will also need to build 3 regular museums which you can get by increasing your education level to 100
Once you do that you will get the opera house.

How do I get to the future quickly when starting another city?

Easiest way is: before you level up from your pre-global warming age, delete all your houses and get your population as low as possible. To get 100% approval you must get 500k people in addition to whatever you traveled to the future with.

Then follow the advice on other threads.

Ok, 1st you have to get at least 70% approval rating, then make sure it's in at least year 2000 or over, then destroy all things that you can that help pollution, build oil and coal plants and other polluting things, wait.
