If you are talking about the Pokemon champ alder you have to beat all of the elite four and when all of them are beaten you go up to the statue and push the A button.

THAT was in Pokemon Black/White 1. In this game, White 2, (Same for black 2), to battle the champion, you indeed get on the statue and press the a button after all of the elite four have been beaten, and the champion is Iris, but to battle Alder, the retired Champion, is to go to Floccesy Town, if you go up, just before Route 20, theres a house, you should have been in it at the beginning to beat those two trainers. Only AFTER the Elite Four and Iris have been beaten for the first time, you can battle Alder, only once I think. But yeah. Hope you take good advice from this!
