The Abbey in Marvel's Midnight Suns acts as the headquarters and the base of operations where all strategic decisions are made outside of combat. The Abbey itself is a Transian fortress moved to a bubble dimension next to the cliffs of Salem, Massachusetts, where it has remained hidden and safe for hundreds of years. Take a look at our Abbey Guide to find out everything you need to know about it.
The Abbey in Marvel's Midnight Suns is more than just a social space that is the headquarters which you return to after a mission has been completed. The different rooms within the Abbey itself allow you to use the rewards you have obtained in missions to prepare your team for upcoming missions by enabling you to create new items and improve skills. You will also be able to study artifact containers, analyze gamma loops, or decipher infocapsules at the Abbey as well as interact with the role-playing mechanics of the game such as increasing friendship XP with your teammates.
Outside around the grounds of the Abbey there are various mysteries you can solve at points of interest. As you uncover more secrets of the Abbey, you will face trials that reward you with Words of Power, which you can use to unlock more areas of the grounds. Once you have completed a mission you will be free to explore the Abbey and its grounds and participate in these activities. It is important that you don't skip them as doing so will result in you missing out on a lot of benefits that will help you on missions.
The Courtyard
The Courtyard is where you upgrade your heroes and spar with your teammates under the watchful eye of Master Blade. In order to upgrade your hero's you need two copies of the same card and some essence which is a resource that can be found throughout the Abbey and a reward from missions. You can spar with one hero per day against a teammate to increase your training level, so you gain combat bonuses that will make your attacks more efficient.
The Forge
This is where Tony Stark and Doctor Strange work, and it is where you unlock the Artifact Containers and Gamma Coils you have obtained from missions. Opening Artifact Containers will reveal magical objects that raise your research level and Gamma Coils will enable you to choose one of three Hero Ability Cards.
War Room
The Mirror Table and the C.E.N.T.R.A.L. workstation can be found in the War Room. The Mirror Table is used to select missions and get information about them and the C.E.N.T.R.A.L. workstation is where you decrypt Intel Caches and use the gathered Intel to send heroes on Hero Ops.
Common Room
After completing a mission you can relax in the common room. The main function of this area is to facilitate the friendship system. Through social interactions, you will raise Hunter's friendship level with each individual hero and the team. This will unlock powerful skill combos, passive bonuses, aesthetic customizations, and additional friendship opportunities.
