How to Unlock Weapons, Spells, and Hats in Loot River

In order to unlock more weapons and spells in Loot River you must gather the currency called Knowledge. This How to Unlock Weapons, Spells, and Hats guide will tell you how you can gather and spend Knowledge to acquire the best weapons and spells available in the game.

How to get Knowledge

To be able to survive the waves of enemies and formidable bosses that you will encounter in the labyrinths of Loot River requires making sure your character is equipped with the best possible weapons and spells. The only way in which you can acquire this equipment is to slay enemies, loot chests, or find hidden areas while exploring each level in the hope of finding the currency called Knowledge which can be used to purchase them. Keep in mind that Loot River is procedurally generated, so any item drops you receive will remain the same for each run.

How to Spend Knowledge

Once you have accumulated a fair amount of Knowledge you will be able to spend it with the NPC merchants within the Sanctuary hub, the starting area of Loot River and also the place where you respawn. At the Sanctuary hub you will encounter the merchants Freya, Rupert, and Emmit who you will be able to spend your Knowledge with. Freya is a heavily-armored knight who will sell you weapons, this NPC can be found standing to the right of the central crystalline structure. The bandit-looking NPC known as Rupert can be found in the upper-left corner of the Sanctuary standing near several coffins and will offer you new spells in exchange for Knowledge. The third and final NPC merchant you will find is Emmit who can be found standing directly to the left of the room's center. Emmit sells hats, which are pieces of gear that offer your character a variety of passive bonuses, active buffs, and other game modifiers.

As you progress in the game weapons and spells will become more expensive which means you will need to put more effort into acquiring Knowledge. Keep in mind all enemy drops and loot are randomized, which means the items received during a run will be heavily dependent on RNG (random number generator), this means you won't be able to unlock the weapons and spells you want and will have to rely on luck getting what you want while exploring.
