How to Open Alien Chests

As you traverse planet ARY-26 in Journey to the Savage Planet you will come across alien chests. These will be grey chests that have three symbols on them and cannot be broken open to access the Alien Alloy that is inside. Alien Chests are ornate in shape with three symbols on them, they are found atop one of three symbols on the ground around them: a circle, triangle, and a square. To open an Alien Chest you must find the hidden scanning points which correspond with the shape on the ground surrounding the Alien Chest and scan them (press the 'Up' arrow on your D-pad and then hold down 'R1'). These shapes will be hidden in close proximity to the Alien Chest and embedded within stone pillars. Once you have scanned all three shapes the Alien Chest will unlock and you will be able to claim your reward which will be Alien Alloy which is an essential ingredient in upgrading your gear.

You may find you require tools such as the Proten Tether or blight bomb which are unlocked as upgrades in a later story mission. If you find yourself in this predicament you will have no option but to return to unlock the Alien Chest once you have the necesary tools.
