Shinsekai: Into the Depths Cheats and Tips

Always consult your map as it is essential for progressing through the game. As you explore the underwater labyrinths of Shinsekai: Into the Depths your map will automatically map itself out and note important points of interest with little icons.

If you get lost or are unsure what to do next you simply have to look at your map and see if there are any areas that are shrouded in darkness as this indicates a location you have not yet explored fully. These areas still contain minerals you may have passed by which you need to collect in order to upgrade your suit's pressure resistance. Important rare minerals which you missed will be marked on your map.

In Shinsekai: Into the Depths it is essential that you continually upgrade your pressure suit whenever possible so that you are able to dive deeper into the depths below. If you do not upgrade your pressure suit he game will block off lower portions of the map with red 'water' that will crush your suit until you upgrade your resistance.

There are several minerals you need to mine in order to get the various pressure suit upgrades: the yellow mineral, the green crystal, and the gray mineral. The only way in which you can obtain these minerals and crystals is by mining and harvesting them from the nodes in the walls.

The most important mineral you need to collect is the red stone material as these chunks of rock are used exclusively to upgrade your suits pressure resistance which is essential for game progression. The easiest way to find all these materials is to use the Hammer Sonar technique which is performed by pounding the sea floor so you reveal any materials in a radius around you on the map and by using your headlamp. Scales will appear as you collect the red stone material and once they are level you will then be able to purchase the next upgrade. To do so you need to enter the main menu with the Plus/Start button and select 'Upgrade'.

There are several different types of weapons you can use in Shinsekai: Into the Depths to defend yourself against the aggressive sea creatures you encounter as you explore underwater and it is recommended that you try out each of them so you know what they are capable of.

Your starting harpoon gun has a burst fire of multiple harpoons and is able to deal a decent amount of damage. It can be upgraded to fire more harpoons. The mine gun is particularly effective at clearing out groups of common creatures, but it's total damage output is not as good as the harpoon gun. The most random of the weapons available is the electric wire gun where to be effective the target must be caught in the electric wire and even then there is no guarantee it will damage the creature. As the electric wire gun is unreliable you are probably better off not using it.

As you explore the underwater world you will come across save points and you need to make sure you remember to save at these locations. It is important that you do this becuase you will not be able to pause the game and freely save, the only way to save in Shinsekai: Into the Depths is to find these checkpoints.

At it's core Shinsekai: Into the Depths is a survival game and equally important as continuosly checking on how much air you have is the supplies in your inventory. The reason your supplies are so important is that they allow you to craft items that will help increase your odds of staying alive.

As you progress through the depths you will come across a number of useful organic resources you should collect whenever you come across them. For example, seaweed can be used to craft oxygen restoring grip extension items. If you try to collect a resource and a red stop sign appears it is to indicate that your inventory if full. When this happens you can free up some space by crafting some items.

The headlamp you are given in Shinsekai Into the Depths is a very useful tool which you should take advantage of at every opportunity. When you press the button on your headlamp to turn it on the beam of light it emits will denote the discovery of rare minerals hidden within cavern walls when it comes into contact with them. When the beam of light from your headlamp shines on them they will by given a red outline which makes them easy to spot.

Rare minerals are hidden everywhere and whenever your headlamp points them out you need to make sure you mine them. Some of the minerals you will be able to find are particularly valuable, these include the rare brown mineral which enables you to upgrade your suit's pressure threshold, allowing you to descend deeper into the depths and green and yellow crystals you find are needed for your suit's auxiliary and weapon upgrades. It is recommended that you keep you headlamp on and only turn it off when you encounter the light sensitive carnivore creatures that are attracted by light and noise and will attack it's source.

Early in Shinsekai: Into the Depths you will learn the hammer sonar technique which is invaluable when exploring the underwater world. When you trigger the hammer sonar technique by slamming down on the sea floor you will emit a sonar scan which will reveal nearby rare minerals and also mark noteworthy things on your map. Later in the game when you gain access to a submarine you will be able to use the hammer sonar technique to scout your surroundings a lot quicker.

In Shinsekai: Into the Depths you have boosters that allow you to move through the water at accelerated speeds. If you move too fast and collide too hard against the environment or a creature that happens to be in the way there is a possibiity that you will damage your suit or even worse, lose an air tank. Make sure you avoid both these scenarios by moving around carefully and in a controlled fashion. To avoid plummeting to the ocean floor at a fast rate when you stop using your boosters you should counter boost to slow your decent so you land gently. If for whatever reason you have no way of slowing down your trajectory before impact you need to try and twist your body so that your head is not exposed because if your helmet takes critical damage you will be instantly killed.

As you journey beneath the waves you will eventually reach the The Trench and it is here that you will be able to access a submarine which will enable you to move around large spaces relatively fast and also serve as a home base during your travels.

The submarine is fully equipped with headlight, sonar, and a giant drill. It also has a tether which you will be connected to when you disembark and supply you with oxygen all the time you are connected to it. The length of the tether is limited and there will be instances you will have to leave it's reassuring safety behind in order to explore small tunnel networks. If you do disconnect from your tether it will stay put until you are ready to reconnect. If you hold down the retract button while you are connected to the tether the submarine will quickly pull you back.

If you do decide to leave your submarine behind for whatever reason or lose it you can always call it at the purple signposts. The submarine is the ideal craft for undersea exploration and you should use it as much as possible.
