How do you ask your neighbour to do things?
I am stuck on auction of things and I can't get my sim to get an auction podium

Do you need to buy one or do you need a neighbor to have one? If you need to buy one, go to the world map and find the Promotions r us store, from there you'll be able to buy a Podium.
If you need a neighbor to have one, than add a real life friend as a neighbor and ask them to buy one for you to use. Otherwise you'll have to grow through different Towns until you find a neighbor with one.
