The only way I have figured out how to is by having a preteen and then by a book shelf in the preteen section of the store and when you tap on it when you selected the preteen sim there is a option of reading a comic book.

I had a sim use the preteen book shelf and the comic book came out

If you want to read a comic you must first go to the store and presh the preteen category.Then scroll across until you see a book case.Buy it and then read a comic will pop up when you presh it. But you HAVE TO get the book case from the preteen category or it won't work

I have seen read a stack of comics as an option on the same shelf... Am waiting to find out if it increases the goal gain.... 3mins was useless!
