My sims refuse to go in there own house or anything every time I select them to do something a picture of feet show up above there head

That usually means they can't get to the area you are asking them to go. Check to be sure the doors are clear and Items are turned the right way.

Check if you have a door to all of your rooms and all of your Items such as a toilet, shower, fridge, computer/tv, and bed are not blocked.
