Question for The Sims FreePlay

I was in the middle of creating a sim after dishing out $30,000 and was called away for a few minutes. I came back and discovered that my iPad had died. I plugged it in and brought that game back up and the sim I was creating was gone and the money was gone as well. I figured since I didn't finish creating the sim, I would be given the money back. Has this happened to anyone else? Is there a way to get the money back?
