The bottom bar with all my options and sims and their needs has magically disappeared, how do I get it back?

Have you tried restarting you're device? Otherwise maybe reinstalling the game?! Oh oh am sorry I don't know what else to say!

You could try pressing the home button, then press the home button twice and then when the bottom Bar appears exit the game and then go to the game again. (works with ios4)

I've had this before- all you need to do is exit the game and go to the home screen, then double click the home button and hold onto the sims, then click on the minus sign on it( it won't delete the app, just reboots it) go back onto the sims, and it will be okHope I helped and hope it works for u

do you happen to know what to do with a kindle fire? if i uninstall it from the device, will I loss all of my progress?

The same thing happened to me, and I powered my phone off and back on again then I reconnected to the wifi and my Bar came back. I hope this works for you.
