What back door?

Cross Stinger answered:

Connect your game to another Game Boy Advance with an E-Reader installed. Make sure that you've activated Mystery Events (volunteer the phrase MYSTERY EVENT IS EXCITING to the lad beside the PC at the Petalburg Pokmon Centre after you defeat Norman) and restart your game and select Mystery Events from the menu. Swipe the Battle Card that you got with your game through the E-Reader and a dialog box will appear on the game: 'A new trainer has arrived in Hoenn.'

Now go back to that house the old man will now be standing in front of that door. When you approach, he'll ask if you want to battle the person on the Trainer Card, who's waiting for you behind the door.

ilovemissyelliott answered:

You need an E-Reader and the E-Card that came with your game. You'll battle the trainer that's on your E-Card.

annefranman52 answered:

You have to use an e-reader.
