For once 100 King is wrong, you do not find Mew on Birth island. You find deoxys there. You can find Mew using cheats or trading from Emerald.

Actually. I probably was wrong. I get the islands mixed up. But I think you get the old sea chart and it takes to to a island where you catch mew. I dunno what it's called though. And bulbasaur is right. You have to use a cheat device now. Unless your friend has the sea chart then you can use mystrey gift to get it from him/her.
