Question for Pokemon LeafGreen

Hi could anyone tell me why this guy on five island wont give me a togepi egg? He just says "You travel alot don't u" and "youre not driving you're Pokemon to hard are u?" "let me check, ah hmm... I see, I see...

Well I kind of browsed through the walkthrough and according to Straw Hat you have to store one of your Pokemon so that there's just five in your party and then take the Pokemon that's the happiest and put him first in your party.Hope it works haven't been there or done that yet.Cheers!

Your Pokemon has to have good friendship with you and you must have a space in your party. If your Pokemon does not like then try make it like you more then you will get it.

I got togepi and what you need to do is leave an empty space in your inventory and have a Pokemon with high friendship in the first slot. Your best bet for friendly Pokemon is your starter. Good luck
