Well, I don't know if I can cover everything, but I'll tell you everything I know.

OK, as Action Replays are updated, certain codes work on certain cartradges, that don't work on others.

For Example, A code for Action Replay version 4.0 will not work on a Version 3.0 Action Replay.

And the same is true for the converse; a Code for Version 3.0 will not work on a version 4.0 Action Replay. Also, Action Replays may work in defferent ways.

For example, a code that will make you encounter let's say a pikachu on version 3.0, a code that will make you encounter a pikachu on a version 4.0, might seem not to work at first, but if you check slot 1 on box 1 on your PC, you might find a level 16 pikachu, or whatever.

It might be reversed, it might be the version 3.0 that has the pikachu in box 1 slot 1. It all depends.

It is also my opinion that the makers of Action Replay make it extremely way too hard to find out which version you have.

With that, I have expended all my knowledge of Action Replay/Gameshark.

Sorry I don't know more, and I'm also sorry that we took so freaking long to answer.... but I hope I answered enough
