I just got the game yesterday and my team is :
Charmeleon lv. 17
Metapod lv.9
I have 1 badge should I go back and capture Pikachu and train him up for Misty? Also should I buy the $500 Magikarp?

Well this would be a good but you'd need cut to get through the other side of the Dilett cave so you should just train Charmeleon to a highr lvl like 20 and use a tm or a fighting move like the one from the punching and kicking bros.

1)That is an alright team. I suggest train up Metapod.
2)Yes capture one or get a grass Pokemon!
3)NO! Don't buy the Magikarp! They are useless! Wait till you get the old rod and you can catch one anywhere!( They only learn 3 moves splash, tackle and flail, but they do evolve into Gyrados!).

1) Yes capture a Pikachu. Then train all your Pokes up to level 22.
2) DO NOT BUY A MAGIKARP! If you want one you can catch one while fishing.
PS. Misty's pokemon are a lv.18 Staryu and a lv. 22 Starmie. You will get water pulse when you defeat her.
