10 Ways The Pokemon Company Can Succeed With Nintendo Switch Core Game

There is no refuting it: the days of 7th Generation of Pokemon, and Pokemon as a whole on the Nintendo 3DS, are coming to a close. The Pokemon Company has already announced that Pokemon Ultra Sun and Pokemon Ultra Moon are indeed the final Core Series Games for both the 7th Generation and the Nintendo 3DS, as well as the fact that the next Core Series Game will be released not only for the Nintendo Switch, but also will be done later this very year. Though players are saddened by the fact that the 7th Generation is already concluding, virtually all are excited for the next chapter of Pokemon on the Nintendo Switch (primarily because it almost guarantees the 8th Generation is in the works of being created).

Since the Nintendo Switch Core Title is on the edging horizon and is fastly approaching, we have come up with ten different concepts and ways the Pokemon Company can make sure the Nintendo Switch Core Title is a grand success. And we will be doing that very thing in this here article! Most of these things have to do with the Pokemon themselves; however, there are also a number of other picks that deal with characters and events also found within the Mainstream Pokemon Series. We think we nailed it with each of our thoughts, but if at any time you feel otherwise, you can let us know your thoughts in the comments section provided below each and every page found throughout. You can also tell us in this area below if you think we got our selections correct, as well as what you hope to see in the next Pokemon Core Game. No matter what you have to say, you would love to hear from you!

So, without another moment to lose, here are the ten ways the Pokemon Company can succeed with the Nintendo Switch Core Game! We truly hope you enjoy!

Bring Back Mega Evolutions

Back in the Sixth Generation of Pokemon, the Pokemon Company absolutely revolutionized the entire landscape of the franchise when they introduced Mega Evolutions. These Evolutions allowed Pokemon that could no longer evolve the chance at temporarily evolving into a much more power version than themselves. Mega Evolutions made some of the strongest Pokemon all the more stronger; however, the most important thing they did was give a number of previously discarded weaker Pokemon the chance to shine competitively. Unfortunately, once the Seventh Generation Pokemon came, the idea of Mega Evolutions stayed back within the Sixth Generation. Players could still use all the Mega Evolutions previously introduced in the newer games, but no more new ones were made. Instead, the Pokemon Company decided to simply give about twenty or so Kantonian Pokemon a brand new Alolan Form, as well as introduce the concept of Z-Moves.

Not only should the Pokemon Company create new Mega Evolutions when the Core Nintendo Switch Title comes to get fans excited, but they should also do it to help revitalize some of the previously released Pokemon that got the short end of the stick when they were first created. Z-Moves are great and all, but they do absolutely nothing to help out these given Pokemon. Honestly, Z-Moves do nothing more than shakeup the Meta Competitive Game, as they are usually nothing more than a OHKO for players to unleash on their opponent’s strongest Pokemon. It the Pokemon Company wants to hit a homerun, they should definitely consider creating some new Mega Evolutions.

Create 150 New Pokemon

Since it has already been told that the foretold Nintendo Switch Title will indeed be apart of the Core Pokemon Series - as well as because they announced that Pokemon Ultra Sun & Pokemon Ultra Moon would be the final Pokemon Nintendo 3DS Games released - we basically have been not only hinted at but also told that the Eighth Generation will soon be upon us. The Core Pokemon Series has always been released within a specific pattern, so there is absolutely no way that the Pokemon Company decides to go with a Remake of a previous Generation (most likely the 4th Generation of the Sinnoh Region) before releasing the next generation of Pokemon to the ever-growing World of Pokemon. It has never been done before, and the Pokemon Company isn’t going to break up the pattern now.

With that said, since we do practically know that the Eighth Generation of Pokemon is in the works, another thing the Pokemon Company can do to help the Nintendo Switch Title be considered successful is actually create roughly 150 New Pokemon. This is one thing that seriously irks Pokemon Fans the most, when a new Generation features a very limited amount of new Pokemon. Both the Sixth Generation and Seventh Generation had trouble reaching even 100 Brand New Pokemon - and that’s counting all the new forms and evolutions to previously released Pokemon - and its time for the Pokemon Company to break this trend. Pokemon Fans always want more Pokemon apart of new Generation, further adding to the thrill of finding and training every last one of them. It will require extra effort from the Pokemon Company to fulfill, but this one seems like a no-brainer to most.

Give Starter Pokemon Unique Typings

There is no denying it: the Starter Pokemon are among the most used, most popular, most beloved Pokemon in existence. These are the Pokemon we hand select to travel alongside us throughout a brand new region, so of course a bond and love is formed for these given Pokemon. They might not be all that great, but they still mean so much to all trainers alike. Unfortunately, most Starter Pokemon usually have Typings similar to each other, making them a little less stellar and unique compared to the rest. There has literally been two Pure Grass Type Starter Pokemon, two Pure Water Type Starter Pokemon, and three Dual Fire/Fighting Type Starter Pokemon. After a while, since there are these duplicates in Typings among them, it can make the Starter Pokemon seem a little more boring, thus making these new adventures with them not all they could be.

If the Pokemon Company wants to make the Nintendo Switch Title something players have never seen before, they should start by giving the Starter Pokemon unique Typings, ones that previously haven’t been given to these select Pokemon. It wouldn’t be that hard, as there are so many typings presently found in the World of Pokemon, the same that haven’t been combined with on the Starter Pokemon. We have never seen a Dual Fire/Fairy or Grass/Fairy. We have had the chance of using a Dual Fire/Ghost or Water/Ghost. We have never been given the opportunity at using a Dual Fire/Ground Starter Pokemon, or a Dual Grass/Flying Starter Pokemon, or even a Dual Water/Electric Type Starter Pokemon. There are so many possibilities that the Pokemon Company can create with the next set of Starter Pokemon, ones that are sure to make the next adventure something to remember.

Finally Release Eternal Flower Floette

Ever since the Sixth Generation came to be and those given games were datamined, players have longly coveted the unreleased Eternal Flower Form of the Pokemon Floette. If you recall, the character known as AZ play a key role in the storyline back in Pokemon X and Pokemon Y. AZ is a former king from long ago, one that built the ultimate weapon to stop the raging war that was taking place with Pokemon back in that given time. Because of this weapon, AZ was able to bring back his fallen Floette; however, after using the weapon on so many other Pokemon to cause harm, his Floette (in its Eternal Flower Form) left AZ. From that point forward, AZ was left wondering the region in hopes of finding his beloved Floette. After seeing your trainer defeat Team Flare and learning a lesson he won’t soon forget, Floette returned and was reunited with AZ.

Unfortunately, Eternal Flower Floette, for some given reason, was never released during the Sixth Generation, not even in the Hoenn Region remakes of Pokemon Omega Ruby and Pokemon Alpha Sapphire. As mentioned, we only know about Eternal Flower Floette because it has been in the main coding since the Sixth Generation. When the Seventh Generation finally came, players had high hopes that Eternal Flower Floette would eventually be released. However, now that Seventh Generation Sequels have come and the days of playing Pokemon on the Nintendo 3DS are winding down, it is apparent that players will have to continue to wait for this exclusive Pokemon. If the Pokemon Company was smart and truly had their players best interest at heart, they would definitely make Eternal Flower Floette the first Wi-Fi Event Distribution for the Nintendo Switch Core Title, having it correlate to the release of said games so player could begin this new journey with this extremely rare Pokemon.

Give Players Another Large Group of Legendary Pokemon

Should the Pokemon Company look to succeed with the Nintendo Switch Core Title, they could always give players loads and loads of new Legendary Pokemon. Much like Starter Pokemon, Legendary Pokemon are among the most popular and most used Pokemon in all of existence. These powerful and rare creatures possess powers of legends and myths, explaining why so many players love to have, collect and battle with them. Back in the Sixth Generation, the Pokemon Company did a big no-no and only included, you guessed it, three Legendary Pokemon (as well as only three Mythical Pokemon). Never before had players been given so few Legendary Pokemon, not even the First Generation ever created had numbers as low as this. This saw many players go into a bit of shock when they discovered how few Legendary Pokemon they could find in the Sixth Generation, and it was because of this voiced displeasure that the Pokemon Company gave players more Legendary Pokemon than ever before for one given region (when counting Ultra Beasts) when it came to the Seventh Generation.

If the Pokemon Company keeps up with this trend - where the Seventh Generation is concerned - they will definitely have a winner brewing with the Nintendo Switch Core Title. The more Legendary Pokemon included, the more players will be excited to play such a game. And the best part is, the Pokemon Company wouldn’t have to go crazy with the number of Legendary Pokemon they should release. If they give players around ten uniquely different Legendary Pokemon, then that will definitely be suffice for all players alike. Ten or so Legendary Pokemon doesn’t seem like to much when it could in turn bring forth millions upon millions in sales for the Pokemon Company.

Follow Up By Releasing 4th Generation Remakes

Outside of the everything the Pokemon Company can do within the Nintendo Switch Core Title, another thing they could do for a successful launch is follow up by releasing Fourth Generation Remakes. Back in the Fifth Generation, Pokemon Fans were hoping for the awaited Third Generation Remakes. Unfortunately, they had to wait until the Sixth Generation to receive such a thing with Pokemon Omega Ruby and Pokemon Alpha Sapphire. Since players were hoping for the Third Generation Remakes back in the Fifth Generation and the Fourth Generation Remakes, subsequently, in the Sixth Generation, you can technically say that players have been waiting for Fourth Generation Remakes for quite some time now. And who could blame them, as the Sinnoh Region was one of the better places players have ever had the chance to explore through.

But simply releasing 4th Generation Remakes isn’t enough to help sale the first ever Nintendo Switch Core Title, as each game would stand alone as two separate entities. What the Pokemon Company will have to do is somehow connect the Fourth Generation Remakes to the expected new Fourth Generation Games. Back in the Third Generation, the First Generation Remakes connected to the Third Generation Games with the Sevii Islands and the ensuing Event Ferry Tickets. In the Fourth Generation, the Second Generation Remakes connected to the Fourth Generation Games with Swarm Pokemon and the Battle Tower. And in the Sixth Generation, the Third Generation Remakes connected to the Sixth Generation Games with the concept of Mega Evolutions. If the Pokemon Company wants to attempt for a slam dunk by releasing Fourth Generation Remakes after the Eighth Generation Games, they will have to find a way to connect them to further boost sales to the new Nintendo Switch Title.

Don't Shiny-Lock Any New Pokemon

If there is one thing we know about fans of the Pokemon Video Game Series, it’s that they love Shiny Pokemon. Shiny Pokemon Forms began back in the Second Generation; however, since there was no way to originally transfer said Pokemon to the 3rd Generation Hoenn Region Games, Shiny Pokemon didn’t rise to fame until the 3rd Generation (where you could finally begin transferring Pokemon to succeeding Generations). Shiny Pokemon might not have any competitive advantages over their normal form, but their differing color schemes makes them some of the more coveted Pokemon. The fact that they are extremely rare to find makes that all the more desired among fans, the same who will usually trade any normal Pokemon for them.

Unfortunately, not all Pokemon can be found in their appropriate Shiny Forms. That’s right, there are still some Pokemon that physically cannot be found as a Shiny Pokemon. These Pokemon are said to be Shiny-Locked, given Pokemon that the Pokemon Company, for some reason, have chosen to never code as being able to be found in their given Shiny Forms. To this day, roughly about twenty or so Pokemon are Shiny-Locked, all of which are all Mythical or Legendary Pokemon (and all are among the most popular Pokemon in existence).

Shiny-Locked Pokemon drive most Pokemon players on the verge of insanity, as all players would like the chance to find every last Pokemon in their alternate forms. If the Pokemon Company was wise, they would choose not to Shiny-Locked any of the new Pokemon apart of the Nintendo Switch Title Game (assuming it will be the first Eighth Generation Game). Even though Pokemon Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon were virtually the same game as their predecessors, players still went out an bought them for the sole fact that the Ultra Beasts of the Alola Region were now no longer Shiny-Locked. The same theory could, would and should be applied to these upcoming games.

Finally Release All Previously Shiny-Locked Pokemon In Shiny Forms

If the Pokemon Company makes the wise decision of not having any of the new Pokemon apart of the Nintendo Switch Core Title being restricted as Shiny-Locked, they will undoubtedly sell more and more of said game(s). If the Pokemon Company goes one step further and finally release all previously Shiny-Locked Pokemon, then this could be one of the highest grossing Pokemon Games in recent memory. At this time, there are a grand total of sixteen Shiny-Locked Pokemon, including the likes of Victini, Keldeo, Meloetta, Hoopa, Volcanion, Tapu Lele, Tapu Bulu, Tapu Fini, Cosmog, Cosmoem, Solgaleo, Lunala, Necrozma, Magearna, Marshadow, and Zeraora. If you don’t notice, all of these Pokemon are either Legendary or Mythical Pokemon. These types of Pokemon are always among the most popular Pokemon in existence, so you know that this causes great displeasure for more than just a handful of Pokemon Fans.

Honestly, it’s baffling how there are over eight hundred known Pokemon Species, and yet all but sixteen of them can be found in their Shiny Forms. It literally makes no sense at this in the franchise, and it’s exactly why the Pokemon Company should just do away with Shiny Pokemon as a whole, beginning with the Nintendo Switch Core Title. The Pokemon Company wouldn’t even have to release all of these Pokemon in their given Shiny Forms at once, slowly but surely doing it through in-game captures and Wi-Fi Events down the road. This way, they could eventually give players what they would like while still keeping these Shiny Forms somewhat exclusive (and thus keeping players playing for longer). If they really wanted to, they could even hold back releasing some of these older Pokemon’s Shiny Forms until the release of the Fourth Generation Remakes (assuming they move forward with that plan). This would allow both the first Nintendo Switch Core Title and the ensuing Fourth Generation Remakes to do well in terms of sells, as Pokemon Fans will do almost anything, as previously mentioned, for a few Shiny Pokemon.

Create More Dynamic Supporting Characters

Outside of creating and releasing certain types of Pokemon, the Pokemon Company can almost ensure a successful launch of the upcoming Nintendo Switch Core Title if they continue to include more dynamic Supporting Characters within it. Way back when in the First Generation Games, the Pokemon Company had the character of Blue challenge your player throughout the game. The Pokemon Company did almost the same exact thing with Silver back in Second Generation Games, giving his character the plot twist of being the son of Team Rocket’s own, Giovanni. In the Third Generation, players had not only Wally but also May/Brendan push their trainer further in terms of strength within battle.

In the Fourth Generation, your longtime best friend of Barry kept things fun as he helped you grow stronger. Cheren kept things serious as Bianca made things a little bit less in the Fifth Generation, with the character of N changing the way we viewed Pokemon Games as a whole. Your group of friends in the Sixth Generation, each with a different personality, made things feel like little more lighthearted and authentic on your group’s first real adventure together. And in the Seventh Generation, of course, the character of Lillie absolutely stole the show.

As you can see, a great Supporting Cast can have dramatic effects on whether a Pokemon Games is remembered or quickly forgotten and pushed aside. As like all the things on this list, the Pokemon Company would be making a great decision by including more of these great characters, personalities, and developments with the Nintendo Switch Core Title. It will not only make the game unique, but it will also give it that certain identity that players could end up remembering for many years to come.

Make Antagonist Group Something To Fear

The final thing the Pokemon Company can do or incorporate into the Nintendo Switch Core Title in hopes of making it a grand success is making another Antagonist Organization that will put true fear in the heart of all players, furthering fueling their protagonist characters to stop them. Let’s be real: the most recent Antagonist Groups haven’t been much of anything as of late, making them easily forgettable for most.

In the Sixth Generation, we were given Team Flare. Even though Team Flare had plans to use the Ultimate Weapon and literally destroy the Kalos Region (perhaps even more), they never made a lasting impression on players, perhaps because they had the appearance of good guys for most of the main storyline in Pokemon X and Pokemon Y. In The Seventh Generation Games, we were then given Team Skull, an even worse example of an Antagonist Group than Team Flare. Honestly, the most severe thing Team Skull did was steal a Yungoos, that’s it. If it wasn’t for Lusamine and the Aether Foundation in Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon, as well as Team Rainbow Rocket in Pokemon Ultra Sun & Pokemon Ultra Moon, there really wouldn’t have been that key opposing figure that all Pokemon Games are built upon. That’s how depressing Team Skull actually was.

Because of these most two recent examples, it gives players the impression that the days of the truly evil Team Rocket, Team Galactic and Team Plasma might indeed be over. However, if the Pokemon Company wants to find the same glory as it did in those given games within the Nintendo Switch Core Title, they will have to create the next great Antagonist Organization. Make us players have something to stand up and fight for again, GameFreak, not rescuing some rodent that was stolen from some preschoolers.

And With That…

There you are! The ten different things we honestly believe could help the Pokemon Company score big with the upcoming Nintendo Switch Core Title! From reintroducing the concept of Mega Evolutions to actually giving us a worthwhile Antagonist Group, these ten selections are sure to make the next Mainstream Pokemon Game a huge success. That is, of course, if they Pokemon Company chooses to include them, if any for that matter. Like at things with the Pokemon Company, we will have to wait and see.
