Top 10 Sinnoh Pokemon That Deserve a Mega Evolution

#2 - Staraptor

Coming up just shy of our top spot is Staraptor. Odds are if you played Pokemon Diamond, Pearl or Platinum, the first Pokemon you caught was probably Starly. Starly was a cute little bird who evolved into one tough Pokemon. Staraptor was fast and strong, being much better than previous Generation Flying Pokemon; it was better than Pidegot, Fearow, Noctowl and Crobat. It wasn't quite as good as Swellow, but that's because it could manipulate Guts and Facade. But still, Staraptor was among the best up until that point. Unfortunately it now has to deal with Talonflame, so it has been bumped down to third best now.

We can see Mega Staraptor getting an overhaul in a variety of ways, but still having some concept remain similar. To starter, it would need a HUGE boost to its Speed Stat. It currently has a 100 Base Speed Stat, which isn't too bad, but it still needs to be better. 140-150 Base Speed would be much better, but that would essentially take away 50 of its 100 Base Stat Boost. It's Attack would need thirty of 50, just to be around 150 Base Attack Stat. The remaining twenty would then be divided into its defensive stats. The Creators could always take away a little of its Special Attack Stat, but so both its defensive stats could be around 80-85. It would be far from a defensive Pokemon, but it could still a hit or two. But the REAL change would be with its ability. The expression goes: "If you can't beat 'em, join 'em." And that's exactly what Staraptor would do. Instead of getting something outrageous, it could simply get Gale Wings (like Talonflame) and be an offensive powerhouse. And since its Speed would be so good, you could invest more in its attack. Staraptor will be able to sweep teams with ease, something it SHOULD be able to do. We'd also think it was nice for it to be a Flying / Fighting Type so it could receive STAB for Close Combat, but we'd take what we can get.

#1 - Luxray

Luxray is the Sinnoh Pokemon who we feel is the most deserving of the bunch to receive a Mega Evolution, inching just ahead of Staraptor. Luxray was another of those Pokemon you would most likely have in your party during your adventure in the Sinnoh Region. Shinx was catchable pretty darn early in those games, making it a high possibility of eventually having and using Luxray. And it was pretty nice having this thing on your team. It had an INCREDIBLE amount power, and it went perfect with whatever you chose as your Starter Pokemon (as well as Staraptor). One thing was sure with the early Pokemon in those games: they evolved into Pokemon with some punch.

One thing Luxray isn't lacking is Attack, but it could definitely use some more Speed as a Mega Evolution. However, we just don't think it would receive a boost to its Speed Stat when it Mega Evolved. Instead, we feel most of its 100 Base Stat Boost would go to its Attack, Defense, and Special Defense. We also think there is a high chance that it would even lose some Special Attack to further aid these other three stats. But don't think all is lost, because we think it would be better for its Speed to get address with its new ability. We feel the best ability for a Mega Luxray like this would obviously be Speed Boost. It would take a turn to improve its mediocre speed, but it just seems like the perfect ability for it. On top of all of this, we think it would be cool if Luxray could somehow learn Volt Tackle. We know Volt Tackle is exclusive to the Pikachu Family, but it would be nice to see some other Electric Type Pokemon receive it - especially Mega Luxray.

Wrap-Up:

We thank you for reading, and we truly hope you enjoyed what you read. All of the Sinnoh Pokemon mentioned here today are among the top Pokemon from their region, and they truly deserve some love with a Mega Evolution. Whether that will happen for some of them is up in the air, but it does for at least these ten.
