The complexity of the games on our list grows the deeper in we get, and Warframe is no exception to that observation. A cooperative third-person shooter slash action-adventure game developed by Digital Extremes, while it is a free-to-download, free-to-play game, its revenue stream is focused around the in-game currency -- called "Platinum" -- that most players may find themselves wanting to purchase...

The premise is actually compleicated - the player taking on the role of members of the Tenno, who are a race of ancient warriors only recently awoken from centuries of cryosleep only to find themselves at war with a number of different forces.

Specifically they are confronted by violent hostility from the Grineer, who are a clone-based race of militarized humanoids. They are also battling the Corpus, a very large political corporation that uses advanced robotics and laser tech to illustrate its points and desires.

Finally there are the Infested -- who are largely the disfigured victims of a Technocyte infection that left them feeling hate that may (or may not) be misplaced.

Thrust into this four-way fight, the Tenno can only rely upon their advanced “exo-armor” they call “Warframes” which have unique capabilities. Equipped with three weapons -- a primary, secondary, and melee weapon -- the Warframes also have their own unique ability and stat.

The game allows for up to four players to work cooperatively to complete missions that range from simple fetch quests to battles or assassinations. Assisting them in these missions are their Companions - a special sort of helper, and once earned and unlocked, their Kubrow, which are a hound-like animal.

While its initial beta run was peppered with issues, since its release in September of last year the game has made solid progress towards addressing its bugs and solidifying its balance to the point that while its crafting system might still benefit from some tweaking, its combat system is top notch.
