Top 10 Games that need a HD Remaster

2. System Shock (1 and 2)

The System Shock games are one of those duologies that inspire others to make fantastically popular games, but never really make it to the limelight themselves. The series has two spiritual successors attached to it. First comes Deus Ex, a series that in itself was fated to obscurity until the more recent Deus Ex: Human Revolution brought the series to consoles and gamers' attention. The second is the massively popular Bioshock series, known for its gripping narrative and wonderful gameplay.

But, avid fans of the System Shock games will declare that the previous games (or mainly System Shock 2) are even better than what Bioshock managed to do when it made waves in the industry in 2007. Unfortunately, few will get to know if that's true; the System Shock games have aged pretty badly (the first game particularly), and can be difficult to get working on newer PCs.

That being said, the games seems like a prime target for a Remaster. They may not do the best, considering that many still do not link System Shock with Bioshock, but a graphical revamp and a serious rehaul of the game's UI to something more modern will likely do the game wonders. It's arguable that perhaps the System Shock games need a remake as opposed to a remaster, but the former is far more likely to polarize and upset fans, ruining the games' chance at being truly enjoyed.

1. Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind

Morrowind is, supposedly, the best Elder Scrolls game. While Oblivion and Skyrim are neat, offering a wide world to explore, plenty of decisions to make, and dragons to shout at, Morrowind is different. While it begun some of the staples to the series, such as the interesting character creation bit and the open world, what Morrowind offers is a different type of setting. The island of Vvardenfell is quite different from the more typical settings that inspired the other Elder Scrolls titles. It makes for a wondrous adventure across a unique landscape.

But, considering that the title was released ten years ago, it can be a little hard for newer gamers to enjoy this different take on the world of Elder Scrolls. A remake doesn't feel needed, as Oblivion didn't change much of Morrowind's mechanics and Skyrim's change in leveling skills may not mesh with the older game, but that doesn't stop the game from being confined to the PC and original Xbox. HD Remasters are absolutely perfect for a game like Morrowind: Smooth out and update the graphics a bit, make the game and its expansions available on newer consoles, and Elder Scrolls fans old and new are sure to buy up the title.
