The Top 10 In-Game Easter Eggs: Pokemon Series

06. Diamond Dust Easter Egg

Most frequently grouped with the Easter Eggs that were created to celebrate specific people and events that hover just under the surface, Diamond Dust can be said to be a link between one world and the next.

A special and rare variation of snow that has appeared in the world since Gen IV, Diamond Dust appears in select locations, on select dates and times, as a special find to celebrate specific events.

On 10 January 2008, Director Junichi Masuda announced on his blog that gamers should sure to play Pokemon Diamond and Pearl on 12 January -- which he revealed was his birthday -- when they might find a surprise if they looked far-and-wide enough.

Eager trainers spread out and searched - having rapidly discovered that a sparkling dust made of powdered diamond was falling at Snowpoint City in place of the usual lsnow.

Since that first dusting this Easter Egg has been used to celebrate other events on added dates,. The following lists the ones we know about, but that is not to say that the event has not happened numerous times without it being recognized or noticed by the masses...

• 12 January in Snowpoint City (Diamond/Pearl/Platinum)

• 10 October on Mount Silver (Heart Gold & Sould Silver)

• 30 October in Snowpoint City (Diamond/Pearl/Platinum)

• 31 December in Icirrus City (Black & White and Black 2 & White 2)

• Your Birthday in Frost Cavern (X & Y)

As far as Easter Eggs go, Diamond Dust is one of the more original and unique, invariably viewed as a prized experience by the trainers who managed to find it falling.
