Top 10 Video Game Villains

1) Lavos

Lavos is the main bad guy from one of the best RPGs of all time, Chrono Trigger. Lavos is an alien that came to the planet from outer space in the year 65,000,000 B.C. with the intention of draining the planet of all its energy in order to reproduce. Lavos slumbered for millions of years, gaining more and more power before finally emerging in 1999 AD and destroying the world in what was termed the “Day of Lavos.” At least, that's what happened originally. When your party travels to the future and sees the apocalyptic world and a video of Lavos destroying it, Crono, Marle, and Lucca decide to stop it by any means necessary.

Lavos has thee forms which make for an epic boss battle. The first (seen in the screenshot above) is the scariest looking in my opinion. Just look at that beast! The player can encounter Lavos in a variety of different ways which is pretty cool. They can travel to the Day of Lavos and take him on when he emerges, they can go through the Black Omen to fight him (and skip his first form), or players can fight him at any time in the game by touching a bucket in the end of time.

Conclusion

Villains like the ones found on this list elevated the stakes of games they appeared in. These villains are equally as important to the heroes when it comes to the storyline. Final Fantasy VII just wouldn't have been the same without Sephiroth as the bad guy. There are lots of other evildoers that would have been worthy of inclusion on this list. Kerrigan from StarCraft, Handsome Jack from Borderlands 2, and Dr. Robotnik from Sonic the Hedgehog are just a few worth honorable mentions. Who do you think should have made the list?
