Question for The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess

I have been playing the Lakebed Temple level for (I am ashamed to admit) hours upon hours. I have ran all over the level and the only thing I missed was the compass. My problem is that the water to get into the boss's room did not rise all the way. The water is level with the treasure chest below it. Please help. I have no idea what I missed and I have looked at every walkthrough. Can someone PLEASE help me??

Don't be ashamed it took me hours first time aswell. You know where the first lot of water pours through the door and makes the level rise well on the opposite side of the room there should be another entrance. Go through below it and I can't remeber much but you end up in a big room with 2 gears above you. You must climb around and get above them. To start the gears is alot like the first time youu did it but this time you have to clawshot over gaps. When you have started the gears go down again and go through the door on the other side of the room to get the boss key. Then with the gears turning head to the central room and the water should be highest and you can go and beat Morpheel.
