Armor: You have to complete the "Malo Mart" side quest. I'm pretty sure you can start this quest after you complete the lakebed temple. Go to the Malo Mart in Kakariko village and you should see an old Goron to the left, just inside the door. Hell ask you do donate 1000 rupees to fix a bridge (you dont have to give it to him all at once). After, hell ask for 2000 rupees to takeover the shop in Castle town. If this is too steep for you, walk outside and talk to the Goron standing outside the shop. Complete his quest, and earn not only a heart piece, but your donation will be lowered to 200 instead of 2000. Either or, pay the goron inside the shop and Malo Mart will takeover the shop in Castle Town. This will drastically lower the price on everything in the shop. The magic armor will now cost 598 rupees. Shield: Is it even possible to complete the game without the Hylian Shield? Anyway, you should be able to buy it at the Malo Mart in Kakariko Village.

MasterHunter answered:

For the hylian shield warp to malo mart in kakariko village and purchase it for 100 rupees.

For the magic armor, while in that mart, donate 1000 rupees to the old Goron, after you have head outside and talk to him, he will give you a barrel of hotspring water, take this to the west entrance of hyrule town, upon arrival throw it on the Goron there, he will roll off leaving you a heart piece.

Now return to the Malo Mart in Kakariko village and donate another 200 rupees to the old goron inside. Finally go to hyrule castle town sqaure, then enter the west building, this will be a new Malo Mart, in here you will find the Magic Armor for 598 rupees.

You went the whole game without the Hylian shield? Dude, that is impressive. You can find it in Malo's Mart in Kakariko Village for 200 rupees.

As for the third suit, you'll need to do a little side quest for that. Pay the goron elder in the malo Mart the 1000 rupees to fix the West Hyrule Bridge, then talk to the goron elder outside. Take the task of delivering the barrel of hot springwater to him (this can be tricky, as you can't use Epona for this). Complete it and it'l knock off a huge amount of the payment for the Castle Shop takeover. Pay him the rest of it and head to the new Malo Mart in Castle Town. The final costume can be bught there for 582 rupees(ish, can't remember exactly).

So it's really that hard to beat it without the shield? Well thank you so much. I'll start a new one to see the difference. About when in the game can I buy the shield and armor?
