Lake Hylia

I'm stuck. At the dried up Lake Hylia, I beat the giant bird and rode it into the cavern toward Zora river, but somehow I died and ended up back outside. Now, I don't have the option to beat the bird again. The spirit in front of the house says that there is some cannon the he can shoot people put of toward the river, but I can't find it. Anyone know how?

When in wolf form, Link can't talk to humans. Go over by the Spirits Spring, and go off towards the area where there was a Twilight Parasite floating near some Hawk Grass. There is another patch of it by the cannon, but you can't get to it yet, so go to the other patch. Howl, and it will summon the Carrier Kagarok. Try not to crash.

Find some Hawk grass and howl like this:

Then the bird will fly down and carry you up again (make sure to get the bugs in this tunnel).
