Skylanders Spyro's Adventure Questions

Early on on tree tops you go into a hollow via first portal you come to. Cannot get out of this room as skylanders do not jump no blue pad available. There is a winch but nothing seems to happen. How do we get up to the other portal to get out ?

The series of jumps required to get OUT of the "Ancient Trunk" hollow tree inside the Magic Gate is "killer". Note: you can choose to not go through the Magic Gate, and still complete the level. You just will not be able to retrieve one soul gem and one hat. However, if you choose to do the Magic Gate, all that jumping CAN be done. From the bottom of the tree go to the left. Use the bounce pad to jump up to the right. You will hit a spot where it appears you need to jump in between two shelves through a narrow gap. IT is possible to jump between them and go on the right. But you can also jump between the two and then shift your joystick to the left and literally CHANGE DIRECTION in mid jump and go the LEFT. From there it is another jump or two to the left, then a couple to the right, etc. You will fall a gazillion times. KEEP AT IT. Eventually, you will become very experienced and doing these jumps and you WILL make it thru. I have several times. My wife also made it through and she HATES the jumping stuff. ONE TRICK you can try. IF you have a skylander with wings that has been upgraded with the ability to FLY, switch to this FLYING skylander. Skylanders can only fly just above the ground, so you WILL NOT be able to FLY out of the hollow tree. But you CAN use that skylander to do the jumping. When you hit a jump that is particularly HARD to make it to the next shelf, try jumping and at the very top of the "arc", hit the button to make your skylander fly. He really can't fly, but the wings will give you the very slightest of "GLIDE" that can extend the jump, maybe just far enough. Up near the top of the hollow tree. About two shelves DOWN from the very top, there is a catwalk that goes out to the middle of the hollow tree. DO NOT MISS IT. It is on or near the shelves where the hornets will sting you. THAT catwalk is where the MOOSE HAT is located.
