Any suggestions on beating kaos? My son is 6 and has 25 skylanders and is getting extremely frustrated! Help?!?

Well if he has stealth elf and chosen the path for steath elfs hand knife things and has all the upgrades on the path he should be able to beat kaos with just steath elf

Drobot and Bash. Upgrade the laser and tail attack. If you upgrade bash fully his tail spin attack can be charged up to do 240 damage. Use this to defeat the 'minions'(koas's skylanders). Then when it's just kaos and the Dragon, use drobot to fire at kaos the whole time. If drobot dies, use terrafin. He won't get hit by anything the dragons use except for MAYBE the fire when he is underground. Hope this helped. Thats how my 6 year old little brother beat him.

Make sure his Skylanders are well upgraded. I had a friend help me and we used most of my 21 Skylanders in our first (failed) attempt. The second time we tried we did it with only about four or five Skylanders. Now that I've figured out how the battle works I could probably do it myself with only the original three Skylanders (Spyro, Gill and Trigger).
Focus on hitting Kaos whenever he comes to the ground, defeating the minions only gets you experience and food if you need it. As Kaos's health lowers he replaces the minions. Getting near (but not touching) sharks gives you health.
My preference is to use Gill and Trigger's ranged attacks as they will keep enemies father from you, making it harder for them to attack you. If you have a friend and Trigger's Golden Super Charge attack, use it if possible.
Switch characters for different parts of the battle, keep your highest level and preferred characters for the battle against minions and Kaos himself. Use faster characters for the hydra.
