How to perform a System Update via Wi-Fi Connection for the PS Vita

It is important to keep the PS Vita’s Firmware updated. System updates contains new functions and upgrades for the PS Vita’s system. It may also contain fixes for existing bugs that appeared on the system.

How to perform a System Update via Wi-Fi Connection



  • Press “Settings” and then press “Start”.

  • Press “System Update” and select “Update Using Wi-Fi”.

  • Details about the version of the available System Update will be shown. Press “Next” to continue.

  • A confirmation message will pop-up, simply press “Yes” to continue.

  • A PS Vita System Software License Agreement will be shown on-screen. Simply scroll down the page and press “Accept”.

  • Final confirmation to perform the update will be shown. Press “Update


  • Guide Image


  • Wait for the System Update to finish downloading. When the Update has been downloaded into the PS Vita, the system will restart and automatically install the System Update.

  • To check if the Update was successful go back to the “Settings” window and select “System”.

  • Press “System Information”. if the the number shown beside the “System Software” is the same as the one shown in the System Update that was downloaded. Then congratulations you have successfully updated your PS Vita System.

    *Please take note that your PS Vita should have at least 70% of its’ battery to avoid it from shutting down while in the middle of the update.

    **Don’t turn off the PS Vita while in the middle of the System Update as it may cause the update to be corrupted.
