You need to kill the Great Thunderbugs when you first enter the Ancient Tower. For Village Chief, it's at Lv.*****

Just send Trenya out to either the Swamp or the Forest & Hills(300pts), he should bring back dragonmoss or dragonwood depending on where you send him.
Put the dragonmoss/wood in your inventory and go on a gathering quest, find the elder and trade with him. I suggest going to the Swamp because he is at the base.

You can also trade battle field jewels from the volcano are 2 and 3 with the red guy in the jungle you have to mine for them though
