Can anyone tell me if you can be in more than one guild at a time.i'm currently in the fighters guild but I don't want to join the dark brotherhood or the theifs yet incase I get thrown out of the fighters.also is there any use for pearls,rubys,topaz etc.should I hold on to them or just sell them to get rid of them.cheers

As for the Jewels, I've yet to find a use for them.
As for the Guilds, You can be in ALL of them at once, heh I'm the leader of most of them at once (Warrior leader of the Mage's guild..Go figure). Although, if you get caught stealing of breaking some of the fighters guilds rules whilst questing for the Thieves, you can very well get thrown out. Just because it's a quest doesn't grant you immunity to conviction. :D
Also, as a side note, you can have all the followers you gain from the different factions at once, (Watch the mage though...she likes to rat out on your dirty deeds).

The jewels are pointless, there just for money and I spose to look nice in you're house or sumthin
And you can be in them all even if you get kicked out, you can redeem urself (only 2 chances for mages and fighters guild) dunno bout the dark brotherhood, the guide book doesnt really say
